The Beginnings of a Crafty Lady

As Casey stated earlier this evening while feeling his forehead, "I've got sock monkey fever!" We decided to venture into the art of sock monkeys. We went to the dollar store, bought some cute socks, then headed over to Casey's parents to use the sewing machine. It's sad when your husband has to explain to you how to use the sewing machine. BUT it's a start, and I someday hope to gain a talent and a hobby of sewing all kinds of fun things. I'm going to start going to Thursday Night Sewing Night in hopes of being taught these talents and also the use of a sewing machine as we have no such object in our house.

So here he is, the finished sock monkey. His ears are crooked and the stitching is sloppy, but I'm sure Maddie will not notice. We're excited to present her with her first homemade gift from her overly excited parents when she wakes in the morning.

I am very impressed. I actually know how to sew but I have no idea how to make one of those. Nice work!

Justin knows how to use (and actually sew) a sewing machine better than I do. I get all mad and cuss then want to throw it out a window!
