Sewing Woes

So I finally have a sewing machine. Apparently my mother had one. Who knew? I have yet to use. Reason being; I can't thread the stupid bobbin. I was physically challenged with this task at my mother in law's as well. So now I sit waiting for my husband to get home so he can do it for me. Yeah, I'm a total newbie. I finished my first real project last Saturday. It's a homemade gift for my friend Jordan; thanks to her reply on my previous blog post. I'll be honest; it took me five hours and lots of re-reading the pattern. I struggled with terminology such as "machine baste" and "turn in"...what the? Also, sewing straight lines seems to be a difficult task for me as well. There were several occasions when I resorted to just looking at the picture and trying to make it look that way instead of trying to interpret the secret sewer's code written on the pattern. Let's just say it's not the prettiest piece of work cranked out by a lady, BUT I'm quite proud of my accomplishment. I haven't yet sent it to Jordan, but I'll post pictures when she has received it. I look forward to someday becoming proficient in the art of sewing. Look out world.

Ha! I have been sewing for a while, I even took lessons from my mom when I was little. But, I now don't ever use patterns. I do the whole just try to get it to look like the picture thing. However, I do know how to do thread the all important bobbin. Good luck!

you're a brave soul jessie. i've only tried sewing once and that's all it took for me to realize that i wasn't meant to sew. i know what you mean - sewing a straight line is hard!!!

I AM SO EXCITED FOR MY PRESENT!!!!! remember when you drew me a happy birthday picture with you infront of a tee pee? loved it. oh and the other day tyrell and i were talking about carter meeting some other female baby and tyrell was saying something about setting them up. i told him that i had already betrothed him to lindy's baby girl...since they were born weeks apart. and tyrell said "no.. he wants to go after that blue eyed pocahantis baby". i laughed really hard but had to break the news that i thought she was already betrothed to baby trey:)

Oy I'm having sewing woes myself. I totally went out and got fabric today with some serious plans to sew, but when I busted out our ancient sewing machine, it quit working on me! Lame.

Hey Jessie, Marci's aunt Suzanne here. Sewing is my passion!! If you ever want to get together ... I know that secret sewing code ... I could maybe interpret a little for you! Darling little girl.
